CORSAUT & WAYLAND, LLP - FAQs

What happens after I start a matter review?

After you submit the form, we review the information and follow up with next steps. If your issue is time-sensitive, include key dates and the parties involved so we can assess urgency quickly.

How quickly will you respond?

We aim to respond within one business day. If you have an urgent deadline, note it clearly in your message.

What types of construction disputes do you handle most often?

Common issues include defect claims, payment disputes, delays, scope changes, contract performance issues, and matters involving subcontractor responsibility. The best way to start is by sharing the core documents and timeline.

Do you handle pre-litigation negotiations?

Yes. Many matters benefit from early, structured negotiation when it aligns with your objectives and preserves cost control. The strategy depends on the documents, deadlines, and leverage available.

What documents should I bring?

Bring all contracts, amendments, change orders, key emails and texts, notices, invoices, payment records, photos, schedules, and any demand letters or claim documents. If you are not sure, send what you have - we will identify gaps.

Do you offer flat-fee contract or lease reviews?

This is a strong option for defined scopes such as contract review, lease review, or demand letter drafting. Offer this where it is operationally accurate for the firm.

What types of real estate disputes do you handle most often?

Common issues include seller non-disclosure, property defects, escrow and purchase agreement disputes, title/boundary and easement issues, and disputes tied to broker performance. Start with a matter review so we can identify the fastest path forward.

Do you handle insurance coverage and denial disputes?

Yes - coverage and denial issues can overlap with real estate and construction matters. Share the denial letter (if any), policy information, and a short summary of the loss so we can evaluate next steps.

Can you help if I’m not sure whether my issue is real estate or construction?

Yes. Choose “Not Sure” in the matter type field and describe what happened, who the parties are, and what you want to happen next. We’ll help route it appropriately.

Do you take cases already in litigation?

Often, yes. Whether we can step in depends on posture, deadlines, and what has already been filed or exchanged. If you’re already in litigation, include upcoming dates and any filings you have.

What is the typical timeline for a dispute?

Timelines vary by issue, court venue, and the other side’s posture. A focused intake can usually identify the likely path and time horizon quickly.

Which counties or regions do you serve?

We are based in Folsom and serve clients throughout the Sacramento metro area, including Sacramento County and surrounding communities. For matters outside the Sacramento region, we can often assist on a case-by-case basis depending on the issue and venue.

Do you handle both residential and commercial matters?

Yes. We handle real estate and construction matters for both residential and commercial contexts, depending on the issue. We do not handle residential landlord-tenant matters.
